Paul (Ted) Mussman joined the Mirbagheri & Smith team in September 2006. Mr. Mussman was awarded his J.D. in 2006 from the University of San Francisco School of Law. During his time at USF, Mr. Mussman worked in the Juvenile Public Defenders Office for the city and county of San Francisco. Prior to pursuing his J.D., Mr. Mussman earned a B.A. from Harvard University in 2000 and a M.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 2002. He also served as a Corps Member for Teach For America in the Baltimore, MD region from 2000-2002. Practicing exclusively in the areas of federal immigration and nationality law, Mr. Mussman concentrates on waivers under the INA, including cancellation of removal for lawful permanent residents and non-permanent residents, permissions to reapply for admission after removal or deportation, waivers of the unlawful presence ground of inadmissibility, waivers for criminal convictions, fraud or misrepresentation, and general waivers of inadmissibility for individuals applying for nonimmigrant visas at U.S. consular offices abroad. Mr. Mussman routinely represents clients in removal proceedings, detention and bond hearings, and has extensive experience with self-petitions under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
